The RP-Lab is equipped with a Hi-Tech 3-D scanner for capturing the shape and dimensions of any physical component which can then be used to generate the CAD data file. Once the CAD data is available, it is possible to analyze the component and modify its design as required.
Other applications of 3-D scanning are:
Reverse engineering
Design verification for dimensions, etc.
Accurate measurement of dies, cast and forged products
